A busier star

Three players.
More routes to discover.

Add yellow to a match and the center becomes much more lively. A three-player game uses the same step-and-jump rules as a two-player game, but another set of ten pieces creates both new bridges and new obstacles.

Set up the seats

Choose “3 players” in the setup screen. Select Human or Computer independently for red, blue and yellow. You can use three human players on one device, one human against two computers, or any other combination. Each color has its own undo allowance.

Know the three destinations

The triangle across the star from your starting home is your target. Matching colors mark the route’s endpoints. You win only after all ten of your pieces occupy that target.

Plan for a board that changes twice

In a three-player game, two other players move between your turns. A jump route built around their pieces might change before you can use it. Look for a second option: an adjacent step, a different jump chain, or a route based mainly on your own pieces.

You do not need to avoid every opponent piece. Jumping never captures, so another color can help you cross the board. The important questions are whether the landing holes are empty and whether the route still exists when your turn arrives.

Reduce congestion at the center

Moving every piece straight toward the center can create a crowded cluster. A piece near the edge of that cluster may have more useful jumps than one trapped in its middle. Sometimes a short sideways step puts you in line with a clear sequence across several colors.

Be careful with the timer

If you are playing with people who are new to the game, start with no timer or 60 seconds. A short timer can be exciting, but running out of time forfeits your turn. Pause is available when players need a break.

A small shared-device habit

Check the turn heading before selecting a piece. With three similar-looking routes, it is easy to think about your own move while another player is still choosing. Let the move animation finish, then pass the device when the heading changes to the next color.

Read the strategy guide for bridge-building ideas or return to the two-player setup for a quieter board.
